We would like to bring to your attention an incident that occurred recently where a scammer attempted to offer a bogus investment proposal to an individual, falsely claiming to be affiliated with Akru Now Sdn Bhd (“Akru”). We would like to clarify that we have no association with the scammer and we condemn such fraudulent activities.

We would like to remind our clients to be vigilant and cautious when receiving unsolicited investment proposals. Corporate identity theft is a growing problem that can cause significant financial and reputational damage to individuals and businesses. It is important to verify the authenticity of any investment proposal before making any commitments.

Here are some precautionary measures that you can take to protect yourself from corporate identity theft:

1. Be wary of unsolicited investment proposals: Do not entertain unsolicited investment proposals, especially those that promise high returns with little or no risk.
2. Verify the identity of the company and representatives: Check the legitimacy of the company by verifying its registration with the relevant authorities, in the event, you wish to check the legitimacy of a company’s representative, to contact the company directly to verify the identity of such representatives; 
3. Do your research: Conduct thorough research on the company and its track record before making any decisions.
4. Protect your personal information: Do not share your personal information with anyone unless you are certain of their identity and legitimacy.
5. Report any suspicious activity: If you suspect any fraudulent activity, report it to the relevant authorities immediately.
